Temperature Control of Balloon Packages

The following report is a general guide of thermal packaging for ballooning. Since the electronics and battery power supply of the Interrogation Recording and Location Subsystem (IRLS) will not operate properly in temperature extremes, NCAR was commissioned by NASA to design a thermal package that would maintain the IRLS components at a reasonable temperature during both day and night and for a long period of time.
