Purdue University Portable In Situ Precipitation Stations (PIPS) Data

This data set contains drop size distribution and surface meteorological data from the Purdue University Portable In Situ Precipitation Stations (PIPS) that were deployed at locations around northern Alabama and southern Tennessee during the VORTEX-SE 2016 field season. Each of the PIPS has an OTT Parsivel2 laser disdrometer and a surface meteorological station. The drop size distribution data are at 10 second intervals and the surface meteorological data are at 1 second intervals. The data were collected during VORTEX-SE 2016 IOPs on 13-14, 24, and 31 March; 1 and 27-30 April; and 1 May 2016. The data are in a comma-delimited ASCII format.
