Preliminary Design, ENCAR-1 Rocket-Borne Cryogenic Air Sampler

The NCAR Isotope Geochemistry Program is developing a cryogenic air sampler fitted into the nose cone of the Aerobee-150 rocket. This rocket-borne sampling system has been designated the ENCAR Sampler (ENclosed Cryocondenser for Air Recovery). Preliminary design details with heat exchanger model computations, related experimental studies and other sampler design criteria are detailed in this report.
