LSC-NCAR Photogrammetry and Damage Surveys - CAMA

This data set contains the VORTEX2 LSC-NCAR Photogrammetry data collected by team CAMA during the two VORTEX2 field phases (i.e., 10 May 2009 to 13 June 2009 and 1 May 2010 to 15 June 2010). The objective was to photo document the evolution and structure of the hook region within the supercell. Data were collected by two teams, CAMA and CAMB, during 2009 and three teams, CAMA, CAMB and CAMC, during 2010. Each team was comprised of a photographer and videographer. The teams attempted to collocate with the mobile X-band Doppler radars. For most missions, CAMA, CAMB and CAMC collocated with DOW7, DOW6 and DOW5, respectively. This data set contains only the data collected by team CAMA. Several types of data are contained in this data set including: data digital still imagery (DSLR), HD video, QuickTime movies, panoramas, damage surveys, Google Earth KMZ files, and mission summaries. Both photo and video times are in Central Daylight Time (CDT), unless otherwise noted. Not every type of data was collected for each day. This is a very large data set. Note that much of this data set is available for quick review at: http://meteorology.lyndonstate.edu/vortex2. For more information about instrumentation and when data were collected by each team, please see the readme file. Imagery and video collected by the NSF sponsored Lyndon State College/National Center for Atmospheric Research (LSC/NCAR) photography teams are available for all to use and modify. When publishing original or modified imagery/video electronically or in print, please include an acknowledgment that the data was collected by NSF-supported photography teams under the direction of PIs Nolan Atkins (LSC), Roger Wakimoto (NCAR), and Wen-Chau Lee (NCAR).
