NSF/NCAR GV HIAPER SMPS Particle Size Distributions 5nm-100nm Data
353.125
This data set contains NSF/NCAR GV HIAPER SMPS Particle Size Distributions 5nm-100nm Data collected during the Deep Convective Clouds and Chemistry Experiment (DC3) from 14 May 2012 through 30 June 2012. This data set is in ICARTT format. Please see the header portion of the data files for details on instruments, parameters, quality assurance, quality control, contact information, and data set comments. The scanning mobility particle sizer (SMPS) counts particles in certain mobility size bins between approximately 8 nm up and 110 nm. We don't specify the diameters in our SMPS. Rather, we set a minimum voltage and a maximum voltage in our DMA (typically 13-3000 V for DC3). From those voltage limits, our program divides the spacing into a constant. But the actual mobility diameters depend on the pressure, temperature, sheath flow rate in addition to the DMA voltage.
