EZPLOT, for Publication-quality Plots

Abstract

EZPLOT was written to fulfill a need for publication-quality figures within the Climate Analysis Section of the Climate and Global Dynamics Division (CGD) at NCAR. It is built as a software interface between the user and NCAR graphics. The package was originally developed to draw high-quality black-and-white or color plots of output data from the Community Climate Model (CCM) Modular Processor, but it can just as easily be used for other gridded datasets. EZPLOT is not designed for the mass-production of plots. However, it makes the process of obtaining presentation-quality figures comparatively straightforward. EZPLOT should be of interest particularly to those who may be dissatisfied by the graphics presently available from the CCM Processor. Many examples are provided to aid the user to quickly become productive in using the package. Note that at present EZPLOT can only be used on CGD computers and workstations. Note: In this second printing, several enhancements to the original package have been incorporated and some corrections have been made to the manuscript.
