ICARUS Chamber Experiment: Jimenez Lab_20170321_1-Hexanol/1-octanol/1-Nonanol/1-DECANOL/Methyl nitrite/nitric oxide/1-DODECANOL_Hydroxyl radical_Sucrose_10.4_ug/m3_Su2
Goals: Fast burst photooxidation of alkanols (high-NOx). Gas-aerosol-wall partitioning kinetics. Determine accommodation coefficient (alpha) and effective volatility under differing seed aerosol types (differing phase and polarities, inorganic/organic, humid/dry, standards/SOA). Summary: Alkanols, Methyl nitrite, NO, and particle seed added to chamber, UV lights turned on for 10 sec, multifunctional products formed. In most experiments in this experimental set, 10-s UV light/photochemistry burst repeated a few times. SMPS measurements of particle size distributions were conducted to determine particle formation, surface area and condensational sink rate coefficients. Gas-phase chemical species were measured with nitrate CIMS. Organization: Jimenez Lab Lab Affiliation: University of Colorado, Boulder Chamber: 1-White (1W) Experiment Category: Volatility and partitioning Oxidant: Hydroxyl radical Reactants: 1-Hexanol, 1-octanol, 1-Nonanol, 1-DECANOL, Methyl nitrite, nitric oxide, 1-DODECANOL Reaction Type: Photooxidation Relative Humidity: <1 Temperature: 25 Seed Name: Sucrose
